Goals of School Counselors
School Counselors help:
- Adolescents and young adults to deal with the many changes they face
- Adolescents and young adults develop positive attitudes about school and the world of work
- Students learn to effectively deal with everyday problems and concerns
- Schools, families, and communities to effectively meet the needs of young people through collaborative efforts
- Provide a comprehensive developmental counseling program
- Refer students/parents to other professionals within the school system and the community as needed
- Assist in career exploration
- Work with students, parents, and staff members through a team approach to meet the needs of adolescents and young adults
